CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Corpus Christi Hooks got some early firepower from Lucas Spence and Drew Brutcher, but couldn’t hold the lead in an 11-7 loss to San Antonio Thursday at Whataburger Field.
The Hooks got two home runs from Spence in the first three innings and added a solo shotfrom Brutcher to take a 4-2 lead going to the fourth. But starting pitcher James Hicks wasn’t able to hold it, with Hicks allowing six runs in 4.2 innings.
Corpus Christi will host three more with the Missions through the weekend, including a Father’s Day catch on the field before Sunday’s game.
