Austin Attalah visited Texas Tech on Friday. He was blown away by them. They were blown away by him.

“It was great honestly,” Attalah said. “It’s one of those schools where I like everybody in the building.

“Their facilities are out of this world. They’re crazy.”

During his lengthy stay on campus, the 2028 four-star offensive tackle from San Bernardino (Calif.) Cajon had extensive meetings with coach Joey McGuire and position coach Clay McGuire.

He also got to meet mega-donor Gordon W. Davis, who donated more than $40 million to Texas Tech’s College of Agricultural Sciences & Natural Resources.

“He was dumbfounded at my size for my age,” Attalah said. “He kept saying, ‘You’re 16?’ He kept saying it over and over.”

The top-rated player in California’s 2028 rankings, Attalah really connected with Joey McGuire during his time on campus.

There were some strong messages delivered during the meeting for sure.

“I had several meetings with him,” Attalah said.

“He’s great. He’s a players’ coach and I really like that. He had a lot of good things to say and his program is going in the right direction. We had a pretty long meeting for the first meeting, probably like an hour in his office.

“He told me if I came there they’d win a national championship. He said if I go there, he’d still be the coach and that he loves his job and if I go play for him he’d be my head coach the whole time.”

It was a similar message from Texas Tech’s offensive line coach, one that definitely resonated with Attalah, whose been in town for a few days since his grandparents and a bunch of extended family live there.

Texas Tech, Texas, Texas A&M, USC, Cal, Penn State, Ohio State and Alabama round out Attalah’s top eight.

The four-star has an affinity for the Texas schools since his family lives in the state plus they have a ranch outside of Floydada, Texas where Attalah has spent summers before. USC is also making a serious push along with Cal and others for Attalah if he wants to stay closer to home.

After his Friday visit to Texas Tech, he’s already planning a return trip. He wants his mom to see everything on Saturday.

“I wanted my mom to see it,” Attalaha said. “She’s going to come in and see everything.”
