A 2-year-old is dead after being hit by a car at an apartment complex in East Houston Sunday afternoon, a day after a 3-year-old was struck and killed by a truck while walking with his mother in West Houston, authorities said. according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
A mother and her two daughters, one of them 2 years old, were walking through the parking lot of the apartment complex off 14340 Wallisville Road around 4 p.m., according to a Harris County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson.
At some point, the 2-year-old walked in front of a parked SUV as another resident at the complex began to drive forward, coming to a stop once the driver ran over the 2-year-old, the spokesperson said.

The resident stayed on scene to cooperate with the investigation and showed no signs of intoxication, the spokesperson said.
The 2-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead. The Harris County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation.
A 3-year-old boy was killed in West Houston Saturday evening while he was walking with his mother through an apartment complex. He was hit by a truck after walking into the roadway.
The driver did not stop and help the child, a Houston news release states. An unoccupied vehicle was later found and is suspected to be related to the incident.
The Houston Police Department is continuing its investigation.
