Per ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Michigan men’s basketball head coach Dusty May is taking the Dallas Maverick’s head coaching job.
The Wolverines are coming off a national championship campaign in 2025-26. Led by May, the team went 37-3 overall and cruised through the NCAA Tournament to win it all for the first time since 1989. In May’s first season as head coach, the team won the Big Ten Tournament and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen before being bounced out of the NCAA Tournament.
Michigan is also bringing in one of the best recruiting classes in the country, led by five-star guard/wing Brandon McCoy Jr., four-star forward Quinn Costello and others.
The search for the new head coach of the men’s basketball team is expected to get underway immediately.
