LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The City of Lubbock is seeking volunteer host families to welcome visiting students from Musashino City, Japan, as part of the cities’ long-running sister-city exchange program.
Lubbock and Musashino City established their sister-city relationship in 1986 to promote international youth exchanges. Since then, the cities have alternated sending groups of students abroad to serve as youth representatives, building what city officials describe as a close and mutually beneficial friendship.
This summer, students from Musashino City will travel to Lubbock for a weeklong visit in July. The city is asking local families to host two Japanese Junior Ambassadors during their stay.
Residents interested in hosting can email JrAmbassadors@mylubbock.us to receive application information. The application deadline is June 26, 2026.
More information about the program is available at mylubbock.us/JrAmbassadors.
