Despite the largely successful efforts of the Trump administration to stop the bleeding and close the southern border to illegal aliens, there are still huge numbers of criminal illegal aliens already inside the United States, and they’ve kept Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents busy.
According to recent reporting from The Texan, ICE Houston says they’ve arrested over 700 illegal aliens in just the month of May, most of whom reportedly have extensive criminal backgrounds. The 735 illegal aliens arrested in May together have a grand total of 1,711 criminal convictions.
Chris Russo with Texans for Strong Borders says even if they don’t have criminal convictions we know about and can verify, most of these aliens are still a public safety risk. “Nicaragua, Honduras, Venezuela—do we think that they’re policing these countries effectively? Or is it possible that these people have committed violent crimes even if they haven’t been charged in their home countries?” he asked.
Russo went on to say that these numbers show there’s still plenty of work for immigration authorities to do. According to him: “We had over 10 million border encounters during the Biden administration. There’s a lot more work to be done, and it’s probably going to be more than one administration’s worth of work.”
He went on to point out that even the 700 arrests we saw in May averaged out to less than 30 illegal aliens arrested per day and says we may need to focus on more workplace enforcement to ensure we weed out these illegal aliens.
