Customers can still visit The Dakota East Side Ice House until August 9, after which the beloved third space will conclude its run on Hackberry Street, as Oliver decided not to renew its lease.
“After a great deal of reflection, our final day of operations will be Sunday, August 9, 2026. Until then, we plan to stay fully open, celebrate this place properly, and welcome everyone back through the doors at least a few more times,” Oliver wrote in an emailed statement.
The Dakota opened in 2018 and quickly became a gathering space for the surrounding community, hosting numerous events and themed nights over the years. The icehouse served sandwiches and pizzas alongside cold drinks and bar bites, earning recognition from local and statewide media outlets, including Texas Monthly, which praised the fan-favorite pork queso.
“Over the years we hosted jazz jams, poetry nights, belly dancers, karaoke, Premier League soccer mornings, live music, fundraisers, first dates, reunions, and so many ordinary nights that turned into lasting memories,” Oliver said. “More than anything, The Dakota became a safe space where people of any background could come together and feel human.”
