A 3-year-old giraffe named Gracie has been missing from her Texas ranch for almost two weeks, and so far, she’s managed to outsmart everyone looking for her.
Gracie disappeared from Cedar Hollow Ranch and was last spotted on a game camera west of Leakey, a small city about 100 miles northwest of San Antonio, according to Real County animal rescue officials.
The search will continue this week after a tip failed to lead rescuers to her, ranch manager Vick Jones told NBC News on Tuesday, June 23.
Gracie escaped roughly a week and a half ago, according to The New York Times, though it’s unclear when her disappearance was first reported to authorities.

Jones told the outlet that Gracie wandered off while feeding on a hillside, somewhere giraffes don’t usually go, before slipping past an 8-foot-tall gate and into an unfenced part of the property.
Jones also revealed that Gracie isn’t the ranch’s first runaway, as several young male giraffes have slipped through an open gate before, though they eventually returned to the barn during a storm.
Online, plenty of people are stumped over how an animal of her size could go unnoticed. Female reticulated giraffes can grow up to 16 feet tall and weigh as much as 2,600 pounds, according to the Denver Zoo.
“How the hell do you lose a giraffe?” one user wrote in response to the missing giraffe Facebook post.
“I just need to know….how?” another commented.
One cheeky commenter offered a hilarious theory, “Probably shopping…. at Macy’s.”
Others wondered how rescuers even plan to catch her.
“How do you catch a giraffe? Jump very high?” the user chimed in.
Gracie is between 3 and 4 years old, has rounded ears, and is one of two giraffes living at the ranch, which is home to several hundred exotic animals, as per the Times.
Her owners are now offering a $5,000 reward to anyone who can help bring her home safely.
