Hundreds of Dallas-area high school football players are taking the trip down to College Station over the weekend to play in the 28th iteration of the Texas 7-on-7 tournament.
The annual showdown has become a hotbed for the best Lone Star State skill position prospects, particularly wide receivers.
Here are five wide receivers from the area to watch out for this weekend:

Trenton Yancey, Duncanville
The four-star prospect committed to Purdue on June 9 after tallying 55 receptions for 852 yards and eight touchdowns in 2025. He is the No. 31-ranked player in Texas and the No. 40-ranked wide receiver in the nation according to 247Sports.
In the 2025 6A Division I state championship game, Yancey threw a 32-yard touchdown pass of his own, the only score for the Panthers in a 10-7 defeat to Galen Park North Shore.

Briceson Thrower Jr, North Forney

Standing 6-foot-3, Thrower can high-point the football and make impressive vertical plays in isolation. The four-star committed to Texas on June 6 after making 32 catches for 529 yards and five touchdowns during his junior year.
Josyah Johnson, Allen

The rising junior has already received five power conference offers, according to 247Sports. He was tied for the team lead with 10 touchdowns and second with 63 receptions for Allen last fall during its run to the 6A Division I state semifinals.

Braylon Deal, Naaman Forest

The rising senior committed to Texas Christian on June 16 as a wide receiver, but he’s an uber-versatile athlete. In 2025, he caught 27 receptions for 426 yards and a team-high six touchdowns. He also rushed 49 times for 241 yards and completed 50 pass attempts for 728 yards and six touchdowns, throwing just one interception.
Deal’s multi-faceted style goes beyond football. He’s also a three-sport athlete who plays basketball and runs track for Naaman Forest.
Trysten Shaw, Mansfield Timberview

An explosive deep threat, Shaw averaged 17 yards per reception, logging 272 yards on just 16 catches in 2025. The rising senior is a three-star prospect and the 180th-ranked player in Texas according to 247Sports.

He committed to Tulsa on June 6, choosing the Golden Hurricane over Baylor and 10 other power conference programs.
