Joyce Faye Thomas, 66, of Amarillo, formerly of Lubbock, passed away on June 22, 2026. She was born on April 19, 1960, in Lubbock to Freddie and Opal (Young) Thomas.

She lived in Lubbock for most of her life. She became a Licensed Dietitian and worked for Lubbock Heart Hospital for many years. She and her only daughter, Monique, lived there until Monique’s passing in December 2019.

Joyce was bubbly, loving, and kind. She was fascinated by Elvis and The Phantom of the Opera. One of the thrills of her life was attending The Phantom of the Opera in Lubbock, a gift from her daughter and son-in-law. Joyce enjoyed fishing with her family and friends.

As a young girl, she spent much time with her grandmother. She was a quiet, shy girl, but after graduating, she blossomed into an outgoing, confident person.

She rode a scooter and would accompany her grandchildren to school as they rode their bikes.

Joyce could be trusted with secrets and was a confidant to many. She was an amazing mother and grandmother. Joyce was very loved and will be missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Freddie and Opal Thomas; her brothers, Daniel Thomas and Christopher Thomas; and her daughter, Monique Vivieros.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son-in-law, Calvin Vivieros, Jr.; four grandchildren, Monica Dominguez and husband, Jose, Angel Vivieros, Luis Gomez, Aydin Vivieros, and Oliver Vivieros; great-grandchildren, Valeria and Eli’Anna Dominguez; and her siblings, Charla Phillips and husband, Floynard, Sonia Thomas, and Stefanee Dunn.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, July 3, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Lighthouse Funeral Home, 3707 Wolflin Ave., Amarillo. Services will be held at 11:00 on Saturday, July 4, at the same location.
