As summer heats up, city leaders assure parents that water play for kids is allowed under Stage 3 water restrictions, emphasizing mindful conservation efforts.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — With summer temperatures in full swing, many parents are looking for ways to keep kids cool and entertained during summer break.
Despite concerns over water conservation and news that a potential Level One water emergency has been pushed back into 2027, city leaders say residents are still being asked to remain mindful of water usage.

A 3NEWS viewer recently reached out asking whether outdoor water activities for children are still permitted under current Stage 3 water restrictions.
Those activities include slip-and-slides, sprinklers, water balloons, and kiddie pools and more.
City Manager Peter Zanoni tells 3NEWS those activities are still allowed.
“We want our families to have fun. We know temperatures this summer are expected to be a little hotter due to the El Niño impact. We want our hardworking families here to have fun, so a sprinkling device or anything to cool the kids off is certainly permitted.”
However, officials are still urging conservation efforts, reminding residents to be mindful of water use—such as turning hoses off when not in use and limiting how long they run.
City leaders say those water activities can be enjoyed in both front and back yards, as long as usage remains responsible.
