Driving while intoxicated with an open alcohol container and reckless driving
On June 16, a nonaffiliated individual was taken into custody for driving while intoxicated and reckless driving following a traffic stop on South Cooper Street, UTA Police Lt. Jim Randles said in an email.
Driving while intoxicated is a class B misdemeanor punishable by a minimum of 72 hours in confinement. If the trial shows that there was an immediate open alcohol container in the offender’s possession when operating the vehicle, the minimum jail time becomes six days.
Reckless driving is a misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $200, confinement in a county jail for no more than 30 days or both.
The case is still active.
Theft of property ($100-750)
On June 16, a nonaffiliated individual reported the theft of personal property from University Hall, Randles said. This case remains under active investigation.
Theft of property valued between $100 and $750 is a class B misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $2,000, confinement in jail for up to 180 days or both.
The case is still active.
Possession of marijuana (<2oz)
On June 21, a former student was arrested for Possession of Marijuana following a traffic stop conducted on UTA Boulevard, Randles said.
Possession of marijuana of two ounces or less is a class B misdemeanor punishable by a fine not exceeding $2,000, up to 180 days in jail or both.
