It’s one of San Antonio’s most vibrant and meaningful celebrations, the Day of the Dead River Parade! From dazzling floats to lively music and heartfelt tributes, this year’s event is bringing even more new experiences to the River Walk. Roslyn Castaneda joined us to share what’s ahead.
To highlight the celebration, two exciting additions are making waves: the return of Tradition Trail and the debut of the Calaverita Run.
The Day of the Dead River Parade kicks off next weekend and offers a beautiful way to learn about and celebrate Día de los Muertos traditions. Even before the parade begins, visitors can admire colorful alebrijes sprinkled throughout the River Walk.
Tradition Trail is back and filled with calaveras, alebrijes, and altars lining the water. Special River Walk cruises will also be available, offering a guided journey through the history and meaning behind the celebration.
And for those looking to stay active, the Calaverita Run—a 5K and family walk—takes place the day after the parade, adding a fun and festive way to keep the spirit alive.
