Just ahead of rush hour traffic, am extremely busy stretch of San Antonio highway is completely shut down.
Emergency crews are on site for the major crash reported just after 3 p.m. Thursday, June 25, on southbound Loop 410, near the Interstate 10 interchange on the Eastside. It is unclear when the lanes will reopen.
The Texas Department of Transportation confirmed the wreck where the same agency is transforming a former four-leaf clover design. Traffic monitoring sites are warning of traffic delays of up to an hour.
While there’s not much in this area in the way of landmarks, it’s the connecting route between San Antonio’s city core and Kirby or Seguin. So, this will likely lead to a prolonged delay even after the highway opens again. And if there’s been any serious injuries, a crash investigation will be required that can leave the highway closed for several hours.
Grainy images on the TxDOT website suggest two larger vehicles involved in the middle of the highway. A series of first responder vehicles are lined up in varying lanes.
This is a developing story, and MySA will update as more information becomes available.
