Corpus Christi Mayor invites families to Fourth of July celebration with fireworks, food and free activities

Mayor Paulette Guajardo says the city’s annual celebration will feature a full day of family-friendly events capped by a fireworks show over the bay.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Corpus Christi residents are invited to spend Independence Day along the bay as the city prepares for its annual Mayor’s Big Bang Fourth of July celebration.

Mayor Paulette Guajardo said the event is one of the city’s most anticipated traditions, bringing families together to celebrate the nation’s birthday with fireworks, food and free activities.

“This is a wonderful way to bring our city together and celebrate the freedoms that we have,” Guajardo said. “Come out, bring your families and make some great memories.”

The celebration comes as the nation continues commemorating America’s 250th birthday, a milestone Guajardo called significant for both the country and the local community.

“It’s a big milestone, and we’re very excited about that,” she said.

Activities begin at 1 p.m. with the Coastal Comida Fest at Water’s Edge Park. The event will run until 10 p.m. and include food vendors, a beer garden, face painting from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., giveaways and family-friendly entertainment throughout the day.

The evening will conclude with the Mayor’s Big Bang fireworks display, scheduled to begin at 9:30 p.m. over Corpus Christi Bay. The fireworks will be synchronized with music.

Guajardo said there are plenty of viewing opportunities along the city’s waterfront.

“We’re so blessed to have such a beautiful seawall,” Guajardo said. “Anywhere along the seawall is going to be the best seat in town.”

City leaders encourage residents and visitors to arrive early, enjoy the festivities and stay for the fireworks show.

“It’s going to be a showstopper,” Guajardo said. “Don’t miss it.”
