Dallasites should not expect respite from extreme heat and humidity any time soon.
In fact, temperatures are expected to reach triple-digits in the coming days. The National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office is predicting Monday’s high to be 100 degrees, followed by 101 degrees Tuesday. This weekend’s temperatures were initially forecast by the weather service to break 100 degrees but are now expected to stay just shy of triple-digits.
Friday’s high is predicted to be 96 degrees, with a low of 77 degrees, according to the weather service. The heat index, or “feels like” temperature, is expected to remain above 100 for the next week. Friday’s heat index is predicted to be 102, and by Monday, the heat index could climb to 106.
According to KXAS-TV, this weather pattern of sweltering temperatures is typical of late June.
In extreme heat, the weather service recommends taking precautions such as finding shade when possible, drinking a lot of water, applying sunscreen and wearing a hat.
Though the sky could be partly cloudy, there is only a 5% chance of storms or showers Friday, according to the weather service. Precipitation chances drop even further this weekend, and remain low into early next week.
