EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A woman from New Mexico was arrested at an El Paso border bridge after authorities said she tried to smuggle half a million dollars’ worth of drugs into the country.
According to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection El Paso Field Office, on June 18, a New Mexico woman– her identity not released– was reportedly caught with 57.90 pounds of methamphetamine hidden inside the body of a black SUV she was driving from Ciudad Juarez to El Paso through the Paso del Norte bridge in Downtown.
The discovery was made after the vehicle was inspected a second time and a K9 sniffed out the drugs, which were packaged in multiple bundles.

Federal authorities took the woman into custody.
