AUSTIN, Texas — Brownwood Police Department Corporal Kristobal Salazar has been recognized with the 2026 State of Texas Law Enforcement Achievement Award for Valor, one of the state’s highest honors for law enforcement officers who demonstrate exceptional courage in the line of duty.

Salazar received the award during a ceremony Friday at the Texas Capitol in Austin, where state leaders recognized officers from across Texas for acts of bravery, professionalism, and distinguished public service.
The honor stems from Salazar’s actions during a July 7, 2025, incident, in which officials said he displayed extraordinary courage, decisive leadership, and an unwavering commitment to protecting others while carrying out his duties.
