LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A Lubbock man is in custody after threatening people with a gun and stealing from a convenience store, according to police.
Officers were called to a convenience store near Interstate 27 and 34th Street for a reported robbery earlier this week. When officers arrived, they were told Jerry Smith, 38, had stolen two cases of beer.
Police say Smith also pointed a gun at a store employee who followed him outside.
Smith fled the scene in a distinctive yellow PT Cruiser. Officers located him a short time later in his vehicle, where he was threatening others with a gun.
Investigators took Smith into custody. He is currently held at the Lubbock County Detention Center.
Smith faces charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated assault and fraud. His bond is set at $203,000.
