Another small San Antonio business is cutting its time short due to a lack of foot traffic, a trend that has persisted in recent years. Besitos Cafe disclosed its decision to close in a candid Facebook post that spelled out exactly why the business would end its run on Nogalitos Street.
Besitos Cafe held its grand opening on November 1, 2025, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a mariachi performance. Less than a year later, the neighborhood coffee shop is calling it quits.
“We have been incredibly slow the last few months and we aren’t able to make it,” the cafe wrote in a Facebook post on Thursday, June 25. “This decision was not an easy one.”
Besitos Cafe brought something familiar yet distinct to the downtown Harris neighborhood, which boasts classic local eateries like Maria’s Cafe and Tommy’s Restaurant. The cafe offered sweet specialty lattes, with flavors like Dubai chocolate and marzipan, alongside a selection of breakfast tacos and tortas. Besitos Cafe also became a place for local artists to share their work in the humble space.
“Whether you stopped by for your morning coffee, breakfast, or simply to spend time with us, you became part of our story,” the Facebook post said.
The final day of service for Besitos Cafe is Sunday, July 12. Until then, customers can still visit the family-owned shop for one last latte or a quick meal. MySA has reached out to the business for additional comment.
“The art work on the wall is still for sale till we close, hopefully people can come help support the artist,” the cafe added in a message exchange. “We just loved the cafe, the idea of it.”
