Garland police continue to investigate fatal bicyclist crash

A bicyclist died in Garland on Saturday when he was struck by a vehicle while trying to cross a street, police said.

Officers responded to the fatal collision in the 5400 block of Broadway Boulevard just before 5 p.m., said Pedro Barineau, a spokesman for the Garland Police Department.

Investigation determined the bicyclist was attempting to cross the street when he was struck by a vehicle, Barineau said. The unidentified bicyclist died at the scene.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, Barineau said.

Police are still working to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash, he said.
