Stars GM Jim Nill said forward Radek Faksa underwent surgery this offseason to repair a serious foot injury he suffered during the 2025-26 season.
Faksa suffered a concussion during the Olympics while competing for Team Czechia, but during his recovery he had a freak accident where he was stepped on by a skate, causing a serious laceration in his foot that also cut a ligament.
Nill said in May that Faksa’s injury was concerning, even though he returned for the final two games of the regular season and the playoffs, and might require offseason surgery. Nill said Saturday that he had the procedure, and it was successful. Faksa is expected to be available for training camp.
“They’re actually surprised that he played,” Nill said. “It needed to be done.”
Nill added that forward Tyler Seguin, who suffered a season-ending ACL tear in December, is continuing his rehabilitation. He said Seguin is “still a couple of months” away from being fully healthy but should be available for training camp.
However, the Stars aren’t sure whether Seguin will be back to 100% strength at the start of camp in September.
“Those injuries are the ones where you feel good, but he’s got to get back to speed,” Nill said. “We’ll probably watch him in camp.”
