The Ranch House announced its impending closure this week on social media. Its last night of service was Saturday.
SACHSE, Texas — A beloved Sachse honky tonk that’s been open for more than 40 years had its last night in business on Saturday.
The Ranch House, at 7610 Highway 78, announced its closure in a Facebook post on June 25.
“We want to sincerely thank all of our amazing customers for your years of support, loyalty, and friendship,” the post states. “You made us more than just a Honky Tonk — you made us a family. Thank you for all the memories. We hope to see you one last time this Saturday”
Many musicians played at The Ranch House prior to becoming nationwide stars, such as George Strait and Moe Bandy. The venue was also used as a shooting location for several scenes in the shows Dallas and Walker, Texas Ranger.
Prior to opening in the ’80s, the building served as a skating rink throughout the ’60s and ’70s.
