El Paso police identified the man after a body was recovered in a canal in the Lower Valley.
The man was identified as 20-year-old Cristian Yamil Bernal Mejia.
The incident happened on Sunday afternoon.
The incident happened near Alameda Avenue and Fresno Street in the Lower Valley.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
