It’s sure to cause a little traffic, but not for a while yet. According to a filing Monday with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, H-E-B is planning a new store for the town of New Caney, a little town north of Houston.
The $45,000,000 plans include a 124,970-square-foot store with a car wash and fuel station as well, with construction set to begin in January of 2027 and be completed in October of the same year. A possible opening date has not been announced. (Of note: TDLR filings are subject to change.)
H-E-B locations occasionally have names, and this one will be called H-E-B Valley Ranch. It is set to be built at 11940 North Grand Parkway East as New Caney’s first H-E-B, though the nearby town of Kingwood has one as well.
New Caney is an unincorporated community in Montgomery County. It’s a quickly growing area—according to Community Impact, the New Caney- and Porter-area population grew an estimated 30.3 percent from 2019 to 2024, from 64,476 residents to 84,010 residents.
Chron reached out to H-E-B for additional details and will update the article when we hear back. In terms of grocery stores, the area includes a Kroger, Target and Walmart.
