Feb. 7, 1932 – June 22, 2026

Dallas Wayne Nichols, 94, Greencastle, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 22, 2026, at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis.

He was born Feb. 7, 1932, in Putnam County to the late Harvey Cecil and Lola Edna (Proctor) Nichols.

After graduating from Bainbridge High School, Dallas proudly served as a mechanic in the United States Air Force. Upon completing his military service, he returned home to the family farm, where he built a life centered on faith, family and hard work while raising his family and operating the dairy farm.

Following his retirement from farming, he worked as a custodian for Jones School, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic.

Dallas also enjoyed competing in the Putnam County Fair Open Class Flower and Garden shows and was an avid supporter of the 4-H Horse and Pony and Dog programs.

Dallas is survived by his wife, June Brattain; son Terry (Kim) Nichols, three daughters, Debbie (Bruce) Prather, Beth (Steve) Baker and Pattie (Brian) Tyree; eight grandchildren, Makenzee (Dave) Salzgeber, Maycee (Destin) Holmes, Marlee (Greg) Zimmerman, Brandi (Kevin) Holtze, Casie (Dave) Goveia, Katie Baker, Matthew (Ali) Barwise and Dani (Jake) Roddy; 16 great-grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings; Lucile Burkett, Herschel Nichols, Edith Fry, Bob Nichols and Doyle Nichols; his wife of more than 40 years, Charlene (Graff) Nichols.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 7 at Fillmore Christian Church, 102 N. Main St.

The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the time of service.

Interment services will follow at Fillmore Cemetery.
