Fred’s Texas Cafe has a workday program through a partnership with Stone’s Throw Farm. The nonprofit was started by Jackson Stone’s family to create work opportunities for young adults with learning differences.

“That’s why we do what we do, is for so many folks like our son, Jackson, when they age out of school, there’s, for most, there’s not a lot waiting, and not a lotta ways to contribute to the world around them,” Jack Stone said. “He’s just a pure soul, and even though he might do things a little differently or a little slower or in kind of a quirky way, he needs to show that soul to the world.
The work experience is worth more than a paycheck for Jackson.
“We see what they can do. And it’s an opportunity for everybody to see what’s. They can do,” Cliff Whaley, Fred’s Director of Operations, said. “I don’t know, just so proud to be able to work someplace that could do that for us.”
