Freeman is expected to focus on offense, defense and catchers with UT; Earleywine worked with Texas’ offense while Zaleski oversaw defense.
Freeman’s coaching career started in 2020 at Vanguard University. During her three seasons, she led the Lions to a 82-36 record. In 2023, she was part of the Cal coaching staff for its 35-21-1 season that ended with an NCAA Tournament appearance. A year later, she went to Georgia and helped coach the Bulldog offense to sixth in the NCAA with 92 home runs and 23rd with 86 doubles in 2024. Georgia was also atop the SEC in batting average, home runs per game, slugging and doubles per game.
In 2025, she joined the Arizona coaching staff that was one of the most dominant in the Big 12. Freeman coached the Wildcat batters to lead the conference in home runs (82), on-base percentage (.437), RBI (388), scoring (7.10), slugging percentage (.571), total runs (433) and triples (19). During the 2026 season, Freeman’s guidance resulted in the Wildcats being ranked in the Big 12’s top three in batting average, RBI per game, scoring, RBI and total runs.
Last year, Texas finished 53-12 and return star pitcher Teagan Kavan and slugger Katie Stewart.
Freeman played college softball at Arizona State and was a three-time All-American catcher and named the 2013 Pac-12 player of the year. She was selected 11th overall in the NPF’s 2015 draft and played for the USSSA Pride.
