LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Fire crews responded to a structure fire near North Ivory and East Purdue streets after receiving the call at 12:48 a.m.
Lubbock Fire Rescue says the structure was fully involved when crews arrived. Firefighters immediately began defensive fire operations, choosing not to enter the structure due to safety concerns.
The decision proved critical when a wall collapsed during the firefighting effort.
The fire was extinguished with no injuries reported.
The Fire Marshal’s Office cannot determine the cause of the fire due to the collapse. Code enforcement officials were contacted to begin emergency demolition of the damaged structure.
