Restaurant closures are to be expected from time to time, but that doesn’t make them sting any less. In June 2026, San Antonio said goodbye to another cohort of local eateries, and a couple announced they would close by the end of summer. 

A personal medical crisis put Asian Bites on hold as the family behind the business rallied around its patriarch and chef, Gunawan. The chef suffered a stroke in May, leading to the closure of the San Antonio restaurant, which is now for sale. 

Nick’s Tacos & Catering has been serving food in San Antonio for more than a decade, but the taqueria closed its location on the city’s Southwest Side as of June 27. Pastor Regina Navarro, the business owner, told MySA that they will continue the charitable efforts for which Nick’s Tacos was known.

After a four-year run, Restaurant Claudine announced on June 22 that it had served its final customers. The elevated Southern eatery was known for its aesthetically pleasing decor and attentive staff. 

This Hill Country staple relocated from Kerrville to Boerne in 2024. After two years in its new home, the family-owned business decided to retire. In total, LaFour’s Restaurant operated for about 43 years.

It is unclear when Tiger Chinese Cuisine unexpectedly closed at its home in the University Square shopping center, but it wasn’t long before Ping’s Sichuan Kitchen took over the space to open its second San Antonio location. 

After just eight months, Besitos Cafe is preparing to close its doors on Nogalitos Street, citing slow foot traffic. The neighborhood cafe’s final day of service is July 12.

On June 23, The Art of Donut announced it would be closing after 10 years of serving sweet treats. However, there is still time to visit the business through July 26.

One of San Antonio’s top icehouses will soon be a memory. The Dakota Ice House told MySA that its last day of operations will be August 9, so there’s still time to grab some pork queso and a cold drink from the Eastside haunt.
