The TNS Zavala Squadron of the Texas Navy Association delivered a welcoming resolution to the USS Cooperstown and its commanding officer Cmdr. Jesse M. DuParc on June 26 at the Port of Corpus Christi.
The TNA prepared the resolutions for ships attending Fleet Week Houston 2026, which was in April. It was the first time a Texas City hosted the Navy tradition. According to a release from the TNA, the USS Cooperstown did not receive its resolution at that time because it was diverted for other missions in the Gulf and Caribbean.
The ship came to the Port of Corpus Christi for maintenance and repairs, and the TNA Zavala Squadron was able to deliver the resolution on June 26.
The TNS Zavala Squadron is an affiliate of the TNA, based at the Texas Maritime Museum in Rockport.
“The resolution commends Commander DuParc, a proud native of San Antonio, for his exemplary leadership and representation of Texas values on the world’s oceans,” the release states. “It also recognizes USS Cooperstown as a symbol of American heritage, naval excellence, and the enduring legacy of the 70 Baseball Hall of Famers who served the nation in uniform; expressing gratitude for the dedication of its officers and crew to maritime security and their embodiment of the proud spirit of ‘America’s Away Team.’”
