After weeks of speculation, President Trump made the news official on Tuesday night.
In a post on Truth Social, the President announced Republicans will gather in Texas for a midterm convention, ahead of the elections in November.
The event is scheduled for September 9th and 10th in Dallas, described by Trump as a “truly historic event.” He also added he expects Republicans to celebrate the “Great American comeback,” highlighting tax cuts, border security and “lower costs,” despite inflation reaching its highest level in more than three years.
He noted the convention will feature “hardworking Americans,” innovators, entrepreneurs, manufacturers, first responders and job creators.
The Republican National Committee previously approved a rule change allowing a midterm-year convention, breaking from the tradition of holding such events only during presidential election cycles.
