Texas A&M softball saw another promising start to the year devolve into another disappointing postseason.
For the second straight year, the Aggies were eliminated in a regional they hosted — this time it was by Arizona State. A&M finished the season 38-19 but have just one super regional appearance since 2019.
Despite a relatively young roster, the Aggies are optimistic.
“There’s a lot of upswing I think here of getting that experience under their belt,” head coach Trisha Ford said after the season-ending loss to Arizona State in May. “I think we have a lot of pieces returning, a strong freshman incoming class and we’ll be active in the portal.”

With the departure of Kennedy Powell, the Aggies’ infield anchor at third base, they got a bit more help with incoming transfer Atalyia Rijo. The infielder finished her sophomore season she had .342 batting average, 13 doubles, 7 home runs and 42 RBIs, all career highs.
A&M got more infield experience with the addition of LSU transfer Maddox McKee. The rising senior had a 100% fielding percentage through 33 games.
