Kevin Bacon is being summoned back to horror — this time as an exorcist.
Sharon resident Kevin Bacon is set to star in the upcoming Amazon MGM horror film “Summoner,” according to Deadline.
Bacon will portray Jefferson Haddock, an exorcist who is called to an isolated witness-protection property to deal with a terrifying demon, accidentally unleashing a force that threatens to destroy him and everything around him.
The movie will be written and directed by Jeremy Slater, whose credits include the film “Mortal Kombat II” and the Netflix series “The Umbrella Academy.”
This won’t be Bacon’s first horror role. He has appeared in films including “Friday the 13th,” “Flatliners,” “Stir of Echoes” and “Hollow Man.”
Bacon’s connection to the supernatural goes beyond just his movies; he told a story involving an allegedly haunted Connecticut property. During an episode of the podcast “Literally! With Rob Lowe,” Bacon said he had to destroy an abandoned house on land he purchased near his Connecticut farm because the previous owner believed the house was haunted. Bacon said the owner’s story involved a Native American who had been killed by a colonial soldier in the 1700s. Bacon currently has a farm in Sharon.
“Summoner” is expected to begin filming this fall, and no release date has been announced.
