EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14) — Women in music will take center stage in El Paso this July when Star City Studios hosts a free community event aimed at celebrating and connecting women working in songwriting, performance and music production.
Star City Studios, in partnership with the El Paso International Music Foundation and Musas of El Paso, will present Femmes in Music on Saturday, July 12, at Star City Studios, located 120 W. Castellano Dr.
Organizers say the event is designed to bring together aspiring and established femme musicians, songwriters, producers, photographers and other creatives for an afternoon focused on collaboration, creativity and empowerment.
The program is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. with the first Songwriting Challenge, followed by a recorded live performance featuring original music.
A mixer and food break is set for 4:30 p.m., with photographers and creatives encouraged to connect and collaborate.
Guest speakers from The Academy and the El Paso International Music Foundation are also expected to share their experiences and discuss opportunities for women pursuing careers in music and the arts.
The event is set to wrap up with a second Songwriting Challenge and another live recorded performance beginning at 6 p.m., giving participants another chance to showcase their work in a collaborative setting.
Admission is free.
Organizers say the goal is to create a welcoming space where women artists can build community, develop their craft, share ideas and inspire one another while encouraging greater representation across the music industry.
