City Council approved more than $5.4 million to start construction for cast iron pipe replacements in the Parkway Estates and Whiffletree neighborhoods.
The project will replace roughly 14,500 linear feet of 6-inch and 8-inch cast iron pipelines, according to city documents. The replacements are needed because of the increased risk of corrosion, line breaks, maintenance costs, service interruptions and negative impacts for residents in the area.
Funding, which comes from the city’s 2025-26 Street Improvements Community Investment Program, will also go toward any needed pavement reconstruction and barrier-free ramp installations during the project.
Lipscomb said construction is estimated to start in July and should be completed by fall 2027.
