A suspect fleeing Houston police was struck and killed by oncoming traffic along Highway 6 early Wednesday morning, according to the Houston Police Department.
The pursuit on Highway 6 ended in the Westpark area when the suspect took off on foot, landed on the highway’s service road and was struck by oncoming traffic, according to preliminary information from HPD. The suspect had refused to comply with a traffic stop, police said.
A call first reported the incident at around 3:29 a.m., authorities said.

Police were chasing a stolen vehicle and detained two individuals, KHOU 11 reported.
An empty sedan and an HPD cruiser, both damaged, were resting on the highway in footage that OnScene TV captured overnight. Broken glass and car parts littered the lanes, and the scene extended to the feeder road below.
Shortly after 8 a.m., the southbound side of the highway was closed between Alief Clodine Road and Bellaire Boulevard, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said. He said traffic was being diverted onto those two roadways.
