Paying just under $700 for Friday’s Australia-Egypt matchup on third-party ticketing platform StubHub can get you in the door for an upper-deck seat at Dallas Stadium.
The price to get into the stadium is similar to upper-deck ticket prices on the secondary market for Tuesday’s Ivory Coast-Norway knockout-round match.
The cost to get into Friday’s knockout-round match stands in sharp contrast to last-minute prices for the June 27 Argentina-Jordan match. Even with questions surrounding how much Lionel Messi would play, if at all, it cost more than $2,000 for the cheapest seat and a chance to see the global superstar, according to StubHub.
Fans who won the FIFA ticketing lottery months ago had the opportunity to purchase World Cup tickets primarily in one of three price categories. Ticket buyers still didn’t know exactly what section they’d be sitting in, but FIFA provided a rough idea based on color-coded seating maps — and the prices were fixed.
With the Australia-Egypt match at Dallas Stadium, those who want to make last-minute ticket purchases through secondary sellers will encounter a different market. Ticket sellers are asking more, but not as much as you’d have to pay for some of the earlier matches in D-FW.
After Friday’s match, there will be two more World Cup matches in Arlington: A second-round match between opponents yet to be determined will be played Monday. And Dallas Stadium is hosting a semifinal match July 14.
