The El Paso County Clerk and Recorder’s Office has completed counting ballots submitted for this week’s primary election.
The office finished tabulating local ballots as of 7 p.m. Wednesday, according to an announcement Thursday morning. County residents cast 163,611 votes in the election, meaning that just under a third of the county’s 501,759 active voters returned a ballot.
The unofficial final results in the county include the Democratic primary for Congressional District 5, where Jessica Killin defeated Joe Reagan with 61.3% of the vote.
The other competitive local races on the ballot were five primaries for the seats in the state legislature, three primaries for the El Paso County commissioners races and the Republican nomination for county assessor.
None of the results in the primary election that were within El Paso County have changed since election officials released the initial results Tuesday night. Full results are available through the secretary of state’s website and the county website.
Deputy Chief Clerk Kristi Ridlen said the Clerk and Recorder’s Office will continue to cure ballots with signature issues and accept ballots returned by military and overseas voters until July 8. The county will release the final update of unofficial results on July 9.
