Offensive physical contact against a family member, assault to a family or house member impeding breath or circulation (Clery Act fondling and dating/domestic violence)
On June 25, a UTA student reported being assaulted and strangled by their dating partner, another UTA student, UTA Police Capt. Jim Randles said in an email. The investigation is ongoing.
Offensive physical contact against a family member is a third-degree felony punishable by imprisonment in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice between two and 10 years. Perpetrators may also receive a fine not to exceed $10,000.
Assault to a family or household member impeding breath or circulation is a third-degree felony punishable by imprisonment in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice between two and 10 years. Perpetrators may also receive a fine not to exceed $10,000.

Sexual assault
On June 26, a UTA student reported being sexually assaulted by a known UTA student acquaintance inside the West parking garage, Randles said.
Sexual assault is a second-degree felony punishable by imprisonment in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice between two and 20 years. Perpetrators may also receive a fine not to exceed $10,000.
The case is still active.
Criminal trespass of a habitation
On June 25, a UTA student reported that an unknown person unlawfully entered their apartment in Centennial Court, Randles said. A police report was filed.
Criminal trespass of a habitation is a class A misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $4,000, up to one year in jail or both.

Open container in a motor vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia
On June 25, a nonaffiliated individual was cited for possession of drug paraphernalia and an open container of alcohol during a traffic stop off campus, Randles said.
Possession of drug paraphernalia two ounces or less is a class B misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $2,000, up to 180 days in jail or both.
An open container in a motor vehicle is a class C misdemeanor punishable by a fine not to exceed $500.
Duty on striking an unattended vehicle
On June 29, a nonaffiliated person reported that their truck was struck by another vehicle while parked unattended on College Street, Randles said.
Duty on striking an unattended vehicle is a class C misdemeanor if the damage to all vehicles involved is less than $200. It is a class B misdemeanor if the damage to all vehicles involved is $200 or more.
A class C misdemeanor is punishable by a fine not to exceed $500. A class B misdemeanor is punishable by a fine not to exceed $2,000, confinement for up to 180 days in jail or both.
