Interlocal agreement with Plano for library materials: As part of the consent agenda, council members approved an interlocal agreement between the cities of Allen and Plano for reciprocal lending of library materials. The two cities had a formal interlocal agreement for sharing library materials from 1992 to 2010 and have had an informal agreement since then, city documents state. This formally reestablishes the partnership for one year.

Buildings and Standards Commission amendment: The city’s Buildings and Standards Commission has historically made recommendations on the adoption of model codes and amendments to Allen City Council. City staff recommended that the administrative portion of the Allen Land Development Code be amended to comply with state law and clearly outline the role of the Buildings and Standards Commission.

Allen residents interested in serving on a city board or commission have an opportunity to share their interest with the city. Applications to serve on a city commission or board are now open.

Each year, Allen City Council appoints members to serve on city boards and commissions. Most board and commission members serve two-year terms with no term limits, and appointments are staggered to have half of each board appointed annually, the city’s website states.
