HENRIETTA (KFDX/KJTL) — A longtime Auto Salesperson in Texoma is celebrating 50 years of being in the business in North Texas.
Mark Havens has been selling vehicles to people in North Texas, especially Texoma, for 50 years.
His journey began at 19, when he walked into Murphy Chevrolet in Archer City and convinced the owners to hire him.
“It’s about life, loving my customers, and having them love you back,” said Havens. “We all like taking care of people — that’s my kind of work. Beginning at Murphy Chevrolet makes me think about being raised by Dale Murphy. Can you imagine being 19 years old with no experience? Sales is about gaining trust, and for me, that’s 50 years of trust. I’ve never had the heart to take advantage of people.”
Havens has even served entire generations of families from the area.
“I have a customer in Olney whose dad and granddad bought from me,” said Havens. “Just yesterday, his grandson called to ask for my advice. That’s what it’s all about. I tell people to go shop around, and after they get through the rat race, come back to me. I make it simple and honest.”
For Havens, the job is more than just selling vehicles; it’s about building relationships across generations and earning the trust of hundreds of clients throughout the area. Most of his sales are completed through an easy phone call, personal delivery and a genuine handshake.
The trust with Havens extends not only to the clients he serves but also to the people he works with.
