LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – What’s been a warm but fairly mild last few days in the lower 90s with rain chances is turning into a slightly warmer and drier forecast today, with a beautiful holiday weekend forecast ahead!

FRIDAY
Warm and sunny. Beautiful kickoff of the holiday weekend is here as high temperatures climb into the mid 90s once again.

Winds will maintain as a light breeze generally around 10 to 20 mph.
TONIGHT
Quiet and calm. Temperatures drop into the lower 70s as winds slow down as well, staying around 5 to 15 mph.
INDEPENDENCE DAY (SATURDAY)
Hot and breezy! High temperatures are expected to climb into the mid to upper 90s, with a high of 97 degrees expected for Lubbock.

I’m also anticipating seeing a few pop-up showers and storms cropping up in the afternoon/evening hours, similar to what we saw Thursday evening.
Winds stay breezy at around 10 to 20 mph with plenty of sunshine on the way. It’ll be great firework viewing weather Friday evening!
SUNDAY
Beautiful and sunny with a 20% chance of rain. High temperatures will reach back to mostly the mid 90s in the afternoon with a breeze of around 10 to 20 mph expected.

EXTENDED WEATHER PATTERN
Rain chances will carry over into the start of next week, but for now that’s where our rain chances will end.

High temperatures remain relatively consistent in the mid 90s over the course of the next week or so with no major dips or spikes in temperatures anticipated for now.
