TYLER, Texas (KLTV) – As the one-year anniversary of the deadly 2025 Texas Hill Country flooding approaches, State Sen. Bryan Hughes, R-Mineola, sits down with Blake Holland for this week’s edition of East Texas Politics on East Texas Now.
Hughes served on the Texas Senate General Investigating Committee on the July 2025 flooding events. Lawmakers recently released a report focusing on Camp Mystic, where 28 people died in the floods.
Hughes discussed the committee’s key findings, legislative action already taken in response to the flooding, and what more could still be done.
Holland also talked with Hughes about other political topics, including a recent interim hearing of the Senate Committee on State Affairs, which Hughes chairs. Plus, Hughes shares his take on data centers in Texas and his legislative goals heading for the 2027 session.
