EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 19-year-old woman was recently arrested after striking and killing a bicyclist earlier this year in Central El Paso, according to El Paso Police.

Police say Vivian Padilla was arrested and charged with collision involving death on Monday, Nov. 3, after striking and killing David Carmine O’Connor, 52, in September.

As KTSM 9 News previously reported, the crash happened just before 2 a.m. on Sept. 7 along the 4600 block of Pershing Dr.

Police say O’Connor was struck from behind and was dislodged from the bicycle, and Padilla did not stop to render aid.

O’Connor died at the scene, police said.

The Transportation Security Administration confirmed that O’Connor was a transportation security officer at the El Paso International Airport since 2002.

Padilla was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility under a $50,000 bond.
