Just a year after accepting an anchor job at San Antonio’s local NBC and Fox affiliates, Emma Allen is departing for a job in Little Rock, Arkansas. The move also marks a homecoming for Allen, who grew up in Arkansas.
“If you had told me a few years ago that I’d leave Arkansas to chase my dream, learn from an amazing newsroom in Texas, and then return home to forecast the weather for the state that raised me, I don’t know if I would’ve believed you,” she said in a Facebook post. “But here we are.”
In Little Rock, she’ll be an on-air meteorologist. Her most recent role at KABB and WOAI was as an anchor for the stations’ morning shows.
Both San Antonio stations are owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group, which also owns KATV, where Allen is headed in Little Rock. KATV is the area’s ABC affiliate.
Before she came to San Antonio to anchor, Allen was a reporter and producer for KATV. The new role will return her to her field of expertise, as Allen was a meteorology student at Mississippi State University, according to her Facebook page.
“This move is bittersweet because San Antonio became so much more than just a place I worked. It became home,” Allen said.
