Houston’s final opportunity to host a match during the 2026 FIFA World Cup occurred on Saturday, when Canada faced Morocco for a spot in the quarterfinals. Arguably the greatest athlete in Canadian history wasn’t going to miss the chance to watch his national team play, and he was joined by some of Houston’s biggest baseball stars.

Hockey legend Wayne Gretzky was spotted in a suite during the FOX broadcast of Canada-Morocco on Independence Day, which is impressive considering that “The Great One” was just in New York City with his daughter, Paulina, less than 24 hours prior for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding inside Madison Square Garden.

Peña was flanked by his fiancée and fellow Canadian sports star Julia Grosso, who stars as a midfielder for Chicago Stars FC in the National Women’s Soccer League and the Canadian women’s national team. Grosso famously scored the winning penalty kick in the 2020 Olympic gold-medal game against Sweden, giving Canada its first gold medal in women’s soccer.

In December 2025, Peña proposed to Grosso in St. Lucia, and the two plan to get married after the Astros season ends.
