EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged with voyeurism after he allegedly tried to follow a woman into a restroom at a convenience store in East El Paso County, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said.
A little after 9:30 a.m. on Monday, June 29, deputies with the Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a suspicious individual at a Circle K convenience store along the 12200 block of Eastlake Boulevard.
During the investigation, deputies reviewed surveillance video showing an adult male lingering near the restrooms before following a female customer into the women’s restroom moments after she entered. The victim reported she believed someone was attempting to watch or record her, the Sheriff’s Office said.
Investigators identified the suspect as 36-year-old Ivan Abraham Ponce. Based on the evidence gathered, detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging Ponce with voyeurism. Bond was set at $10,000.
On Thursday, July 2, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Unit located Ponce at the 7900 block of Gateway East, where he was taken into custody without incident. He was subsequently booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility.
