A Dallas mother has been found guilty of murder by a Collin County jury months after police said she left her 15-month-old in a vehicle on a day when temperatures topped 90 degrees.
Esquivel was accused of “intentionally” leaving the child in her car after arriving at her job in the 3200 block of Preston Road at about 2 p.m., police said.
The baby was in the vehicle for about two hours with no conditioning and died, police said. The temperature that day was at least 95 degrees, police said at the time.
Esquivel plead not guilty but was found guilty of murder by a jury on June 18, according to Collin County court records. She was sentenced by the jury to 25 years in state prison.
