The city of El Paso is still owed millions in delinquent Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) funds.
During its meeting on Tuesday, July 7, the El Paso City Council will receive a report on more than two dozen hotels behind on their taxes to the tune of nearly $3.2 million as of May 31. Nearly a dozen are already being pursued by an outside collection agency while the remainder are in the hands of the city Comptroller’s Office.
Relianse Yar LLC, which owns the Quality Inn at 900 North Yarbrough Drive, currently owes more than $440,000 in delinquent Hotel Occupancy Taxes (HOT). It is one of more than two dozen hotels that owe nearly $3.2 million in taxes to the city.
Following is a list of the delinquent hospitality companies and how much is owed as of May 31, according to a document accompanying Tuesday’s agenda:

The report comes only weeks after the City Council approved a resolution to begin collecting Hotel Occupancy Taxes on short-term rentals, a move expected to generate an additional $3.5 million annually to support tourism-related investments.
